Spotlight: Metro Youth Partnership

On the broadest scale, the value that Metro Youth Partnership brings to the community is a network of compassionate individuals who are striving to make our community the best place on the planet to be a kid! To achieve the goal of making Fargo-Moorhead a stellar place to be a kid, MYP has identified three strategies:

• Community involvement in supporting youth.

• Educate the community on how to best serve youth.

• Create new asset-building activities for children and youth.

To reach these goals, MYP provides training, presentations, referrals, scholarships, mentoring, resources for after school and summer enrichment activities, organizational support, volunteer opportunities, and more…

The VISTA project Eleanor and Malin are involved with is the Asset Champion Network. The purpose of this VISTA position is to create an intergenerational network that educates and inspires adults and youth alike to be champions of asset building, so that all young people grow up healthy and successful. To date, over 150 individuals in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area have completed Asset Champion Training (a 2 hour presentation that introduces the 40-developmental asset framework).

The network is meant to foster relationships, provide resources, and connect everyone who is interested in and passionate about making the Fargo-Moorhead area the best place on the planet to be a kid!

We have had countless training participants confide in us that the Asset Champion Training has changed the way they perceive young people by inspiring them to go beyond their comfort zone and invest time in supportive relationships with children – what a wonderful step toward showing our youth that we care about them!
